Are you interested in “Calming the Anxious Brain”? Tools and tips to help with anxiety.

Presenter: Dr. Laurie Bottiger, Head of School

Where: The de Paul School and Virtual

Anxiety is a good thing!  What, how can you say that? The physiological body reacts to stimuli in a way that is meant to protect us from harm and danger.  In the 21st Century, we have many stimuli.  Our bodies have to make split-second decisions about how to react.  In this workshop, we will discuss and unpack ways to deal with anxiousness and how to support our brains.  As we learn about “Calming our Anxious Brains”, we will use two lenses.  One will focus on ways that we can lean into the anxious feeling and learn how to free ourselves.  The other will be ways to alert our bodies, especially through our polyvagal nerve, to assure our physical bodies that “all will be okay.”   Participants will leave with practical strategies that work whether you are 1 or 100 along with an understanding of what we experience physiologically when we feel anxiety. Participants will identify ways to deal with anxiousness and how to support their brains and be able to describe practical calming strategies.
