Procedure

Like you, we want the best school for your child. Our Admissions process is designed to help parents and de Paul determine if we are the right school for your children. Here is the process we follow.

1. Let's Talk

If you have an interest in The de Paul School and think we can help your child, we invite you to contact our Director of Admissions, Peggy Woolley , at (502) 459-6131, extension 1215. You can also reach our Admissions Associate, Christina Janisch, at extension 1221. You can e-mail us at , or you can use our on-line form to contact us .

We welcome your questions about our school and want to help families make informed decisions. Additionally, we are happy to provide information on learning differences and share how The de Paul School works with children who learn differently.

2. Come for a Visit!

We encourage parents to visit the school to see what makes us truly different. Tours are scheduled and designed to help parents get a full sense of the school, our classrooms and our culture. Tours can be scheduled at your convenience.

3. Admissions Testing

Like you, we want to make sure that this is the best fit for everyone. Therefore, we administer some specific tests to your student to gain helpful information about his or her strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement. We understand that many of our potential students have previously been tested by psychologists, schools, and or specialists. We ask parents to share those results with us so that we have a more complete picture of your child. Based upon the information provided, we will schedule the battery of tests best determined to meet our placement and evaluation needs.

A diagnosis is not required to attend The de Paul School. Many of our students have previously slipped through the cracks because they did not qualify for a diagnosis at their time of difficulty, but benefit from our instructional and environmental style. We work with students who are bright; our students have IQ's ranging from average to far above. However, they are not reaching their full potential in a conventional classroom because of their processing deficits.

Many of our students have received a formal diagnosis through extensive evaluation. Some of those diagnoses are: ADHD, Dyslexia, Central Auditory Processing Disorder, Non Verbal Language Disorder, Sensory Integration Disorder, Dyscalculia, and Dysgraphia. In addition, some students have more Specific Learning Differences such as disorders in Reading, Math, Spelling and Written Expression.

The de Paul School and its curriculum is not designed to fully benefit a student on the Autistic Spectrum (Aspergers or Autism) or a student who may have been diagnosed primarily with an emotional or behavioral disorder.

4. Parent Conference and Recommendation

Within two weeks of the admissions assessment, our Admissions Director will confer with parents to review and discuss the test results. Parents find this meeting to be extremely informative. This information will focus on whether one of The de Paul School's programs is appropriate for your child.

5. Student Conference and Visit

If a student would benefit from enrollment in The de Paul School, we want to meet with him or her. We invite that student in for a comfortable meeting, during which we work to educate your child about what makes our school truly different. We visit classes together, talk with same-aged students, and meet key staff in order to present a warm and welcoming community at The de Paul School. We understand that changing schools can be a difficult transition for some students. Therefore, we use this time to help them get acclimated to their new school home.

6. Application and Tuition Assistance

We accept applications for enrollment throughout the year. We frequently enroll nearly 35 new students in the midst of a current school year. Call our Admissions Office at 459-6131 if you would like information about our admissions testing schedule.

The de Paul School has a rolling enrollment. That means we can enroll eligible students at almost any time during the school year, so long as we have available spaces for that child.

Tuition assistance is available to qualifying families. The amount awarded is based on a family's financial need and the school's tuition assistance fund balance. The de Paul School uses the services of FACTS Grant Aid Assessment to determine each family's need for financial assistance. Contact our school's Business Office at to receive The de Paul School Application for Tuition Assistance.
