Ms. Blunk
Language Arts
Ms. Blunk’s students should read, read, read, and practice
writing.
Reading
Ideas:
- Read
a short story aloud with your child. Have him or her tell you what happened.
- Practice high frequency word cards and
syllable cards. We’ve included some syllables we have studied that you and
your child could put onto cards if they don’t have them.
- Keep a reading list of books that they
read during the summer. Have your child pick books from the library that
are in several different genres.
- When riding in the car or walking on the
street, have your child point out words they know, or have them divide
into syllables words that are difficult. Check to make sure your child
understands common words on signs such as caution, exit, push, pull, etc.
- Have your child read books on tapes. Let
them be the producer and encourage
sound effects. Let them share this with you or a younger sibling. When
riding in the car, encourage your child to read license plates. Make a
list and keep track of how many you find.
